By: Janie Peterson Every great scholar asks profound questions. We as Governor’s School students were accepted into the program for our curiosity and inquisitive natures, among other criteria. Here, our critical thinking is intensified. By the time we return home, our way of questioning will be greatly refined and enhanced. As we passed the American Independence Day, there is one great question that must be asked. The ultimate question of them all, one that every true American ponders: hot dogs or hamburgers? Our student body has strong opinions on the answer to the question of the superior American grilled cuisine. Some students had structural preferences and based their answers in logic:
Whether hot dogs or hamburgers are the more sensible vessel for ketchup, mustard, or…. other things, students have very strong feelings about what goes on their preferred Fourth of July snack.
Others were more concerned about where their food was coming from.
Many agreed that their favorite depended on circumstance.
No matter what you prefer-- hamburgers or hot dogs, with or without condiments, or even vegetarian-friendly alternatives-- it’s a beautiful thing to see people uniting on this Independence Day to stuff their faces like true Americans.
